I much preferred Seige and Relentless to this one. He arrived on the crime writing scene with his highly acclaimed debut novel The Business of Dying, the story of a corrupt cop moonlighting as a hitman.

But he is no longer a policeman; no longer charged w When Dennis Milne–now living under an assumed identity in the Philippines–hears that his old friend and colleague Malik has been gunned down in a restaurant, he decides to go back to the violent city he once called home and bring the murderer to justice. Very bleak and gloomy ending.

It’s only after you’ve finished you realize that’s you’ve been supporting the wrong party all along.

Milne respects few men but he admired Malik so he heads back to London to find the man responsible for Malik 19s death and make sure he pays. Simon talks both on and off the record to members of the Counter Terrorism Command and the Serious and Organised Crime Agency, so he gets to hear first hand what actually happens in the dark and murky underbelly of UK crime.

This was tons better. Having been conditioned by the audiobook narration, I’m not sure if the dialogues on paper were quite as bad as they came across here, or if Dave just portrayed them in a banal way.
