Phasor-Measurement-Units PMUs are vital components for smart grids as they provide analuza, frequency and phase of the grid’s fundamental signal in real-time in the presence of different disturbances like harmonic distortion, noise, etc. Herein we evaluate a performance of six algorithms i for sigle harmonic distortion test as required by the standard and ii for four realistic harmonically distorted signals.
The sampling frequency was either 1 kHz or 5 kHz. At 1 kHz an aliasing occurs for several harmonics and here high harmonsska errors were produced by all algorithms therefore no algorithms can comply with the standard.
At 5 kHz the aliasing is significantly shifted towards higher frequencies therefore most algorithms with exception of 4PSF and MHFE meet requirement of the standard.
